The feature film "Grandma Africa. – in search of the old tracks", currently in pre-production, is a drama with adventure elements, approximately 90 minutes long and rated 12 years old. Set in the late 1960's and early 1970's, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, the film tells the story of Grandma Africa, an elderly, illiterate and undocumented black woman whose anonymous life symbolizes the historical erasure of millions of black people in the country.
The story takes place in a fictional city in the interior of southern Brazil, where settings such as a public school, a streetcar, a bar and a police station explore the social, racial and political tensions of the period. The school is a space of acceptance and resistance, where characters such as Almerinda, a civil servant, and Célia, a teacher, share memories of Grandma Africa. However, it is also a place of conflict, represented by director Helga, who is linked to criminals from the past and teachers who challenge military oppression.
The film Grandma Africa was awarded the 1º place among the Audiovisual Notices under the Paulo Gustavo Law of the RS Department of Culture. Dramatic, sensitive and realistic, the film portrays the roots and connections between slavery and dictatorship.

Nando Ramoz, head of Antro de Criação, has been on the road since the 70s. With extensive experience in artistic production, Nando is the screenwriter and director of the film Grandma Africa.
Gabriela is the Director of Nação Produtora. She has extensive experience in the production of cultural projects. She is responsible for the production of the film Grandma Africa.
In 2012, we created the program Nação on TVE/RS, a pioneer in Brazil in addressing blackness as a central theme. In 2015, we received an honorable mention from the Vladimir Herzog Award for the special “A Revolta Chibata”.

🔹 Outstanding Screenplay Award at the 2nd Black Cinema in Action Festival with the short film Nação Preta do Sul.
🔹 Official selection for the 4ª Mostra de Filme Popular da Restinga and the Mostra de Curtas Gaúchos at the 50th Gramado Film Festival.
🔹 Contemplated in co-production by FAC Filma and Subverse Film for the completion of the feature film Nação Preta do Sul.
